In her studio, nestled at the base of Colorado’s Grand Mesa, Cathleen Crenshaw is designing and handcrafting sterling silver and gold jewelry just outside of Cedaredge, Colorado. Working out of her studios in Aspen, Durango and Carbondale, Colorado where she owned a retail gallery for 10 years, Cathy has been creating an eclectic assortment of handcrafted jewelry for more than 30 years.
Cathy specializes in distinctive fabricated cast and fused metalsmithing techniques to create jewelry of her own design. In them, she often incorporates freshwater pearls, as well as precious and semi-precious stones. She has shown in retail shops and galleries in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Arizona, as well as the museum shops of the Smithsonian, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Art Institute in Chicago, the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe and the L.A. County Museum in California.
Cathy’s work favors bold, statement oriented designs of a contemporary and organic nature which are intended to compatibly enhance and express the personality of the wearer. Each piece is made one at a time and is one of a kind.
Cathy is blessed to live in Colorado, surrounded by nature and wildlife. She is an avid outdoor enthusiast and spends her free time hiking and camping in the mountains, canyons and deserts of Colorado, Utah and Arizona where she gathers much of the inspiration for her work and her life.
